As Senior Producer at Visualise, I led the production of an innovative AR activation for Harrods’ iconic Christmas windows, reimagining the department store’s legendary festive displays through the lens of emerging technology.
Harrods approached us with a clear ambition: to surprise and delight passersby with something entirely new — a twist on tradition that still captured the wonder of the holiday season. In response, we designed and delivered two bespoke AR animations, each featuring a beautifully crafted automaton — a nod to early mechanical marvels — that came to life behind what appeared to be a static window poster.
The experience was delivered entirely via WebAR, meaning shoppers could launch it instantly by scanning a QR code with their phone — no app download required, ensuring maximum accessibility for the busy crowds of Knightsbridge.

Once activated, the windows transformed, revealing whimsical mechanical scenes and charming performances from the automaton characters, delighting audiences of all ages and offering a moment of unexpected magic.
Celebrated across multiple retail and marketing publications, the project was recognised for pushing the boundaries of physical retail, blending storytelling, nostalgia, and cutting-edge AR to create a Christmas window like no other.
